What do you want to be when you grow up? The age old question, it's what people have been asking us since before we even knew what it meant. I wanted to be a vet, a marine biologist, a politician, a lawyer, a photographer, a video editor, a stunt woman; not to mention the dreams of becoming a public speaker, an author, a therapist, a life coach, and so on. It's always been my dream to help my fellow humans, my brothers and sisters, in whatever way possible. There's a longing in my soul to be the person I wish I had in my life when I was at my deepest & darkest, to be some sort of light to help illuminate the treacherous paths we choose.
"What do you want to be when you grow up?"
I'm starting to wonder if answering that question with the title of an occupation is even a fair claim to put on our lives? A doctor, a lawyer, an artist, are occupations, but what do you want to DO? Who do you want to BE? Where do you want to GO? What do you want to SEE? You don't have to be a motivational speaker to be an inspiration; the most inspiring people in my life are those who have taken the little they had and made something with it, the people who wouldn't take "no" for an answer, the people who won't rest until their dreams are their realities.
Constantly move towards the person you want to be, the person you believe the world needs, the person who gives without expectations of receiving, the person you wish you could have had when you were wondering "what am I going to be, what am I going to do with my life?" Throw the pre conceived notions of what you should be or look like out of the window, they are of no importance. Be the super hero you ARE, the human you are here to be, the light that our dark world so desperately longs for.
